Past Events

Animal Awareness organizes peaceful public education events that shed light on animal-use industries, including the many benefits of being vegan and vegetarian.
2003 Towson Spring Festival

May 3 & 4, Animal Awareness had a booth at the 2003 Towson Spring Festival that educated the public about factory farming and the benefits of becoming vegetarian and vegan. The festival was located in front of the Towson Courthouse Square and surrounding streets.

Each day we had 6 to 7 volunteers on hand to answer questions and offer suggestions about where to find vegan products. Thank you to everyone who helped for making this a very successful public education event!

Here are 6 of the 8 volunteers who worked at the booth.

Crowd Gathers
A crowd gathers to look at the factory farming photos and literature as well as to discuss the issues with our helpful volunteers. Notice that our booth was positioned right next to a place that sold chicken and pitbeef. Several people who had been waiting in line to purchase these meat products noticed our signs and walked over for more information.

A volunteer listens to a man express interest in learning about factory farming and vegetarianism.

Looking at Information
Three people engage in different aspects of the booth. The man on the left watches video footage. We rotated between three eye-opening video tapes: PETA's "Meet Your Meat," Compassion Over Killing's "Hope for the Hopeless," and VivaUSA's "When Pigs Cry." The man with the red shirt in the middle looks at some posters. The man in the black shirt on the right discusses the issues with a volunteer.

Saturday Basket Winner
Sarah Kraft was the lucky winner of the Saturday basket. This basket was generously donated by Michelle Jacmenovic. Included in this basket is a wonderful assortment of vegan products including some of her line of vegan bath and health products called "Health with a Heart."
Sunday Basket Winner
Jessica Taylor, one of our volunteers, was the lucky winner of the basket that was raffled off on Sunday. This basket was generously donated by Herb Morrison.

All products in the baskets are vegan, which means they have no animal ingredients and no animal testing.
